FAITH
"And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him." (Hebrews 11:6) We believe the first act of real faith a person can exercise is to come to the realization that they are lost in their sin and unbelief, and then to call out to the Lord Jesus Christ for forgiveness and salvation. "For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans 10:13)
We believe that our faith then needs to be:
Strengthened - "So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the Word of Christ." (Romans 10:17) It is the word of Christ that initially convinces us of our sin and our need for salvation. Once we know Christ as our Savior it is the word of God that builds our faith. At which we study through one book at a time in a verse by verse format. We endeavor to free ourselves from denominational beliefs and traditions by interpreting the scriptures literally and by limiting our applications to those intended by the author. We believe to exercise our faith we simply are to take God at His word, and to believe it even if our life's circumstances seem to be contrary.
Sharing - "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." (Matthew 28:19-20) We believe one of our greatest blessings in this life is the task we have been given to share our faith with anyone who does not personally know Christ as their Savior. Our task is to share our faith and then to help strengthen the faith of those who come to Christ. We encourage all new believers to publically proclaim their new faith by identifying with Jesus Christ in believer's baptism. We then instruct the new believer to become a part of the body so they can "attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ." (Ephesians 4:13)
